Working alongside the NHS to deliver a 10-week mental health workshop at the Recovery College was a deeply fulfilling experience. The workshops catered to a diverse group of individuals aged 21-50, each facing their unique mental health challenges, ranging from PTSD to depression and anxiety. Participants came from various backgrounds, including recovered drug addicts and individuals who had endured childhood trauma. Throughout the six-week course, we provided practical techniques and tools to improve their mental health and facilitate healing from their past traumas. Our aim was to empower them to support their mental well-being in their daily lives effectively.
The workshops were met with enthusiasm and appreciation, leading to an invitation for four additional group therapy sessions titled "From Purpose to Pain." This new series allowed participants to reflect on their life experiences and discover ways to utilize their journey to help others in the future, if they chose to do so. The impact of these mental health workshops extended far beyond the duration of the program. Participants reported significant improvements in coping with their mental health issues, increased self-awareness, and an overall sense of well-being. By exploring their past traumas, they became more aware of self-sabotaging behaviors or limiting beliefs, enabling them to break free from harmful patterns.
The feedback we received from the participants was heartwarming, and it was inspiring to witness how the workshops instilled newfound confidence in each individual, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions and aspirations with renewed determination. The sense of empowerment created a positive ripple effect among the participants, fostering a strong sense of community and support. Overall, our collaboration with the NHS in delivering these mental health workshops proved to be an impactful journey of healing, growth, and empowerment for all involved.
